Want Change? How about a new Hairstyle?

As most women know, when we get restless for change, a quick change, there are a couple things we can do…

1. Buy a new dress, top, or outfit, because of course there is always NOTHING to wear in the closet, and new clothes always make us feel great.

2. Get a manicure (not sure how this helps change, but its nice to have pretty nails, and will help clear one's mind on how to change other things about one's self in the future). New makeup also does the trick, too.

3. Change your hair.

I usually choose 3. As some may or may not know, I dye my hair. Only to make it darker, because my natural hair color is just a blah color of brown. But whenever I am feeling super restless, dying my hair is a sure fire way to feel better. I can't even tell you how refreshed and happy I feel when I've just covered up 3-months worth of roots (don't ask me why I put it off that long sometimes, but I do, haha)

I'm sure you can all agree... whether you cut it, dye it, crimp it, curl it, blow it, braid it, there's nothing like a new hairstyle to make ya feel like a vibrant new woman with a better state of mind.

Admittedly, I am rather attached to my long hair. It took quite awhile to grow, and its part of my 'image' as a musician I feel, but I do often wonder what I'd look like with a new style, and perhaps a different color. As a teen I was a chameleon constantly changing hair colors and styles, but as an adult I've always stayed with the dark brown/black hair color family. Boring I know. But that doesn't mean I don't wonder what kind of attention I'd get as a blond or redhead, or how much time would I save if I had shorter hair that didn't take an hour to dry and style.

Now thanks to: Instyle Hollywood Makeover I can be brave and bold with my hair, without the risk and remorse. And there's no shock over why my hair turned orange and gray in one night of hair dye mishap (I looked like an Olympic torch). With this online makeover its all the gain without the pain. Of course its just a picture to see what I'd look like with a new do, but I figure if I like it enough that way, I might have the guts to take the plunge and make it a reality. Granted I don't have top-notch hair stylists at my disposal, but there are some pretty low-budget salons that can help duplicate the styles.

So here are some new hairstyles..(keep in mind that some of these are for entertainment purposes only, I wouldn't be caught dead in some of these do's!)

JESS' TOP 12 HAIR STYLES

12. The Ashlee Simpson. Makes me wanna paint my nails black and proclaim that "I didn't steal your boyfriend!"

11. Bleach blond bowl cut. Its just wrong when real hair looks like a wig!

10. Mandy Moore, girl next door. Not bad. But not exciting either.

9. Hallo Deutschland! Its the Heidi Klum. Um, can we say, auf wiedersehen? I could also get on Star Trek with this one.

8. The 1930's Writer. Cute like Margaret Mitchell. Just give me a typewriter and I'll write the next "Gone With the Wind".

7. The Julia Roberts. Red and sophisticated. Makes me look very grown up. Think I could pull off red?

6. Michelle Phiefer look. If I was going to sport blond, I think I would do it golden with highlights.

5. The Keira Knightly. No description needed. What was she thinking? And what was I thinking?!

4. The Katie Holmes. Très chic and sassy. Reminds me of Vogue magazine editor Anna Wintour. Um..looks better on Katie methinks!

3. The Supermodel. Who hasn't looked at Giselle Bündchen's luscious golden locks and dreamed of looking like Rapunzel, too?

2. Rachel Bilson. I love the warm tones, highlights and long layers. This is probably my favorite and one I may attempt in the future.

And lastly, the crème de la crème, the cream of the crop of all hairdos...my number one hairstyle...

1. The Senator do. Dignity and class personified, inspired by Hillary Clinton. Granted I look about 50 instantly with this, but maybe then I could run for public office, too?

I was just kidding about the Hillary Clinton one of course, but what do you all think? I would love some feedback people! I'm really stuck as to which one of these to choose should I undergo a hairstyle transformation, and as you can see these are all GORGEOUS, lol! :) So HELP me out!!

I really like the Rachel Bilson on you.

I never would have guessed you dyed your hair darker. It looks so natural!

Thanks. Yeah, I really like that hairstyle/color, too. I may do, it, though not as short, but similar.

Yeah, I dye my hair, I let the cat out of the bag, lol. I mean its not dramatically darker than my original color, but enough to be a difference.

Wow, you are unrecognizable in some of these. I actually really like the 1930s one, although I guess you could save that one for when you're a lot older and have less time for your hair. The Rachel Bilson one is the best of these for a long/glamorous look.

I did of course know about the hair dyeing, although I don't know if I've ever seen your natural color. I've assumed it's like Amy's or Mabel's.

I like the Ashlee, the Michelle Pfeiffer and the Rachel Bilson on you!!

When I re-dye my hair flaming red...I feel so happy inside! It just makes me happy and feels like ME.LOL

Thanks for the comments ladies!

Zina: yeah, the 1930's do is cute, may do it someday. As for my original hair color, well its been a LONG time since i saw it with a full head of hair, but I think its about the color of Amy's.

Wendyburd: I totally know what you mean! Hair dye= a new woman! BTW, love the red on you. Very pretty and it fits your effervescent personality!

Rychelle: I liked the Julia Roberts one, too. Guess we're alone in it, lol.

My all fave was definitely the Rachel Bilson one though. I'm wondering how I could get my hair to do that color since I've been dying it dark for years. May have to do a little bleaching first to take the dark tone down a little, hopefully it won't dry my hair out too much!

You could totally pull off almost any hair color Jess. As for my preference , I say why not all of them! Why not return to the days of wig wearing? Incognito in for any occasion! LOL

I like Rachel Bilson, but I'm leaning towards the Ashlee look more - it's very funky and edgy, and you could totally rock it!

Where have you been? Did you make a decision?

I'd vote Rachel Bilson (though I really don't know who she is) and then the Ashlee do. So if your natural color is most like mine, and it "is just a blah color of brown" (ahem) then . . . does that mean I'm due for a new color too? ;) This would be radical, considering my hair has never been dyed nor highlighted.

When I finally cut my hair shorter it was so liberating and fun to have a style rather than just a length. Baby steps, I guess.
Love,
Amy

Kristina, I've been around, its just been an interesting week, haven't been much inspired to post anything. Will probably do a Halloween post though, if tonight ends up being something adventurous and interesting with my friends.

Amy,

Oh no, I didn't mean it that way! :( The color just looks blah on me, you know I've been dying my hair since age 14, I get restless so I dye my hair. Your hair color has always looked good on you, I think its just a matter of preference. I'm sure you could pull off a lot of hair colors/styles, too. Love you, sis!

Oh, and Rachel Bilson is just some chick that used to be on TV show the O.C. Don't know much about her except they used her as one of the choices for hairstyles at the Instyle Website.

I know what you mean about the hair thing. I love a new look. I am paranoid about being attached to my hair since my mom had long, straight hippie hair from 1969 until 1999. I love long hair, but the second I start feeling too attached --off with her head, er, hair.

I recently went darker. It's totally a change for my dark blond self. I love it.

Yes, I would have to say Rachel Bilson wins!! Plus, not that I am any expert on the topic, but it seems that your hair would easily convert to that style. And, cool program. Makes change so much less shocking or even sometimes devastating!
